Alfred Coffee

Located within the newly developed Boardwalk Marina del Rey, this tenant improvement transformed a commercial shell into a vibrant specialty coffee shop overlooking one of Southern California’s premier waterfront destinations. The Boardwalk is a mixed-use marina-front development that combines restaurants, retail, offices, and public waterfront amenities, creating an active pedestrian environment that serves residents, visitors, and the surrounding Silicon Beach community. The project benefits from its highly visible location along the marina promenade with direct access to the waterfront and adjacent retail destinations. 

The architectural design was developed to support Alfred Coffee’s distinctive brand while maximizing operational efficiency within a compact footprint. An open service counter, intuitive customer circulation, and carefully planned back-of-house workflow create a seamless café experience, while coordinated kitchen equipment layouts ensure efficient daily operations. Bold blue tile, warm wood finishes, abundant natural light, and contemporary detailing reinforce the brand’s identity and complement the relaxed coastal character of the Boardwalk development.

As the Architect of Record, I prepared the architectural construction documents and coordinated the project through both the Los Angeles County Building Department and Health Department approval process. The scope included accessibility compliance, life safety coordination, and integration with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and Title 24 consultants to deliver a fully code-compliant specialty coffee shop.
